Dear Pork Producer:

I am writing to you today to let you know that Quality Meat Packers employees, who are members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union today voted in favour of going on strike at midnight tonight. Attached you will find a copy of our press release which includes more details.

Quality Meat Packers deeply regrets that until this dispute is resolved, there will be some painful disruptions for you, as well as for our own company. As of Monday, December 7, we will unfortunately be forced to stop all shipments due to the strike.

We therefore have no choice but to invoke the "force majeure" clause in our contract agreement with you effective at 12:01 a.m. on Monday December 7, 1998. This means that at this time them is no further requirement for you to supply us with hogs.

We ask you to understand ow position in this difficult situation and work wtth us in moving forward. We will keep you informed of any new developments.
