CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE
CFA Reacts to today's Record of Understanding with United States
OTTAWA-- Congratulations are in order for both Agriculture Minister Lyle Vanclief and International Trade Minister Sergio Marchi. The Record of Understanding signed last night, and announced earlier today, marks a positive step forward in Canada-U.S. agricultural trade relations and good news for Canadian producers."Lyle (Vanclief) took a firm stand for Canadian agriculture today, strongly representing the Canadian interest and getting results that benefit our country's agriculture and agri-food industry," says Sally Rutherford, Executive Director of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture. "We urge him to continue with his advocacy of Canadian agriculture and look forward to continuing our work with him in the future.
Members of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture are particularly pleased with agreement concerning the transportation of Canadian grains, the progress made with respect to E.U. export subsidies on oats, and the provisions concerning pest control products. The avoidance of an audit of the Canadian Wheat Board represents another win for Canadian producers.
