Western Hog Exchange Daily Market Report

U.S. cash hog prices closed steady to $1.00 lower. Terminal market hog prices ranged between $11.00 to $16.00/cwt live.

Lean hog futures prices closed mixed with near months lower at: December down $1.40 at $21.97, Feburary down $2.00 at $30.07 and April down $2.00 at $35.87/cwt dressed.

U.S. federally inspected hog slaughter has been reported as 389,000 head for today, up .3% from a week ago and up 3.3% from a year ago.

U.S.D.A.'s pork carcass cut value closed at $37.68/cwt dressed, down $2.03 from the prior days value. Trading was slow with 106 loads of pork cuts and 17 loads of processed pork reported sold. Wholesale car lot pork prices moved as follows: fresh loins $7.00 lower, butts steady to firm, hams steady to $$5.00 lower, bellies steady to $1.00 lower and lean trimmings $1.00 lower.
