Feeder pigs sold steady 4.00 lower per head in the Midwest this past week. There were not enough feeder pigs at the Tennessee sale. Many producers are giving up. They are losing money each day they keep the pigs and are letting them go even at (actually) give away prices. At current slaughter hog prices, only a few buyers are beting on an immediate change of direction in the finished market to a pro- itable level. February futures are around 21.00.
